Thank you for joining me in the battle against Breast Cancer!
Several months ago, I asked the question, "If you could help make a difference in the life of someone close to you by sponsoring me in a fundraising walk, would you support me?" All of you answered with a GIANT YES! And we did it! This past April, I walked every single step of the“Avon Breast Cancer 3-Day Dallas". Through rain, thunder, and the blazing sun, I walked from Keller at the northern part of Ft. Worth, through Grapevine, Carrolton, Addison and many other cities to end up at the forever inspiring closing ceremonies at SMU!! Many times when my legs would start to cramp up, I wanted to quit. Luckily I didn't have to do it alone. I was surounded by over 2400 fellow walkers and an AMAZING crew to help me along the way. I kept in mind that I was doing this for the women that we have lost, for the courageous survivors, and for the women who without the humanity of others, would not have the resources to beat this dreaded disease. There are over one million women in America with undetected Breast Cancer. In order to SURVIVE, they need access to medical care, screening, education, and treatment. You have helped to save someone’s grandmother, mother, wife, sister, or daughter. One out of eight women will have Breast Cancer sometime in their life. The chance of you knowing one of these women is 100%. Now you can know that you have made a difference. In order to participate in this life saving walk, I was required to raise $1900. With all of your help, I raised over $2400!!! The amount raised by the entire 3-day after all expenses, is over $2.5 MILLION!!!!! Your donations are a part of that! Please pat yourselves on the back! I know most of you can barely get by sometimes, but that didn't stop you. You are all inspirations to me! Thank you all for joining me in this journey. Take part in knowing that when people band together to help others, great things can be accomplished. Thank you for joining me in the fight!! Until next year! Dayla Cox (walker # 3690) |
